PUBLIC ART SOCIETY OF WESTLAKE
BOARD MEETING
MARCH 21, 2009
PRESENT: Michelle Corson, Mike Silliman, Shannon LaRue, Dave Rollins,
Kay Anderson
ABSENT: Kelly Cox, Debra Hale, Leah Rennhack, Mary Petty
TOUR OF HALL OFFICE PARK IN FRISCO, TX
Patricia B. Meadows, an art consultant for Craig Hall, met the
board members at Hall Office Park and led a tour of the Hall
Collection and the Texas Sculpture Garden. She explained the
selection process of the Texas artists and described how the
Texas Sculpture Garden became a reality. The board members
walked through the Garden and viewed the variety of styles and
materials of all the sculptures. Patricia gave the board members a
list of Texas artists for the PAS to consider for future projects.
MINUTES FROM JANUARY
Shannon motioned to approve the minutes and motion was
seconded by Mike. All were in favor. The board did not meet in
February. Instead, the members met at Maquire Partners to
assemble note cards and membership forms to be distributed to
every home in Westlake for the 2009 membership drive.
DISSCUSION
The board members unanimously agreed to use the $10,000 given
by the Town and not defer using the money as discuss previously.
Also the board discussed the Town's renewed need to create a
partnership with the private community to ensure a streetscape for
the Precinct Line Road expansion.
The board agreed to sell the Lone Ranger note cards for $2.50 a
card to meet the requests of those who would like to purchase
cards from the PAS.
The board decided to invite last year's members as well as the
2009 members to the meeting on April 15. Michelle invited
Patricia Meadows to speak to the group and share information on
prospective artists.
The board decided to send a letter to our members thanking them
for their support and letting them know all that the PAS has
accomplished
The board members elected to go ahead and establish the by-laws,
reflecting the requirement to meet with the Town on an annual
basis. The board also agreed to develop a new budget and to
provide an update for the Town Council.
Michelle stated the need to elect new officers and the desire to do
this annually. Michelle requested that the board vote on new
officers at the next meeting.
Regarding the flamenco event, the board agreed to charge $175
per couple for members and $200 per couple for non-members.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Subject to clarifying the payment that was made to Premier
printing and not reflected in the report, a motion was made by
Kay and seconded by Mike to approve the budget presented by
Dave.
