PUBLIC ART SOCIETY OF WESTLAKE
BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 21, 2009
PRESENT: Michelle Corson, Mike Silliman, Kelly Cox, Shannon La Rue,
Debra Hale, Leah Rennhack, Kay Anderson
ABSENT: Dave Rollins and Mary Petty
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.
MEETING WITH ALDERMEN
Michelle suggested that the board meet with the Town's Aldermen
at least once a year to keep the Aldermen updated on the Public
Art Society's projects and goals. A specific date and time was not
designated. However, when appropriate, the Aldermen will be told
that the PAS board would like to defer using the $10,000 this year.
BY-LAWS
Michelle distributed a draft of the by-laws to the board members.
The by-laws were drafted by Judge Brad Bradley. Michelle asked
the board members to review the draft and present their comments
at the next meeting. Also, she offered to scan the Town's new
policies and send the document to the board members via email.
ARTS EVENTS FOR 2009
Until Kelly has further conversation with the documentary film
maker for the Crow Collection, the viewing of the film as an event
will be postponed. An event with the flamenco dancers will be
planned for the spring. Kelly informed the board that this event
would cost $1500 plus tip. And the food and drinks would be an
additional cost. The board members discussed the possibility of
charging members $175 for this event and non-members $200.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
The board members agreed to meet at Mike's conference room
on Friday, February 6, to assemble the cards and membership
letters that will be distributed to each home in the Town. The
board members who live in Westlake will hand deliver the letters
and cards. Michelle offered to modify the membership form that
will be included with the cards. The board members agreed to
deliver the cards by February 10.
MEETING WITH PATRICIA MEADOWS
The board members discussed the possibility of meeting with
Patricia Meadows in Dallas, although no date was set.
MINUTES FROM DECEMBER
Shannon motioned to approve the minutes and the motion was
seconded by Debra. All were in favor.
TREASURER'S REPORT
A motion was made by Leah and seconded by Shannon to approve
the budget subject to review of the Admin. number on the report.
All were in favor.
PAINTING DONATION TO WESTLAKE ACADEMY
The painting will be presented at the V.I.P. event, which will be
held before Gallery Night.

A question was raised about the list of board members on the
