MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER A motion was made by Shannon and seconded by Debra to approve the minutes from the November meeting. PAINTING, CARDS AND GALLERY NIGHT Debra brought the painting by Dennis Farris to the meeting. All attendees approved of the painting. She also brought an example of the card. The attendees discussed the wording on the back of the card and Debra agreed to make the changes that were suggested before the card goes to print. Debra presented the cost of printing the cards on a common stock with a matte finish. After discussing the stock and wording on the back of the card, a motion was made by Debra and seconded by Mike to print 1500 cards. The attendees decided to leave the inside of the card blank. If the cards are used for a membership drive, an insert will be printed for that purpose. Kelly suggested putting a pack of three cards in the "goody" bags that will be handed out at Gallery Night. Debra made a motion to put a pack of cards in the "goody" bags and the motion was seconded by Shannon. A suggestion was made to set up a table at Gallery Night to promote membership in the Public Art Society. 4. FUTURE PROJECTS AND FUNDING Kelly commented that the board may be premature in funding a sculpture at this time. She suggested that three factors would keep the board from planning a grand project: timing, knowledge of art and sculpture for an outside project, and the economy. The attendees discussed Patricia Meadows comments to Michelle Corson that an outside piece would probably range from $50,000 to $75,000. Kelly suggested that the board should rethink the funding of future projects, since the board was planning to spend $25,000 for the first piece. The attendees discussed the value in beginning with smaller projects to raise money and awareness such as a community art walk or a performance by the flamenco dancers. A motion was made by Shannon and seconded by Kay to table the sculpture project. TREASURER'S REPORT Dave presented the budget as of December 16, 2008. A motion was made by Shannon and seconded by Debra to approve the budget. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM.
