WESTLAKE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
MEETING
JUNE 16, 2005
PRESENT: President Kelly Bradley, Ruby Held, Uckey Smith, Jack Wiesman,
Stephen Thornton (7:00 p.m.), Jean Dwinnell, and Town Liaison Carolyn
Sims
ABSENT: Allen Heath, Tom Allen, and Pathfinder Editor Joyce Roach
1. CALL TO ORDER
President Bradley called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. DISCUSSION OF RESOLUTION 00-02 — ESTABLISHING "THE WESTLAKE
HISTORICAL PRESERVATION BOARD"
President Bradley reviewed the direction given by the Resolution adopted by the Board
of Aldermen when the Westlake Historical Preservation Board was created.
Discussion ensued regarding the events that would be sponsored by the Westlake
Historical Preservation Board including Decoration Day, the annual meeting, the
membership meeting, the production of the Pathfinder.
Further discussion was held regarding memberships, marketing the Christmas Book in
order to re -coop some revenue, making the events City-wide to include the Academy
and the subdivisions.
It was suggested that Sharon Sanden as Chair of Decoration Day for 2006 and Lisa
Councilman as the co-chair.
3. DISCUSSION OF FY 2005-2006 BUDGET
Discussion was held regarding proposed budget figures for the annual meeting awards,
the membership meeting, Decoration Day, and the Pathfinder.
Further discussion was held regarding options for raising funds or acquiring donations.
It was the consensus of the Board that the pre -sale of the Town's 50t" Anniversary Book
is critical to funding.
The Board reviewed the issues that would be covered in the presentation to the Board
of Aldermen on June 27th.
4. ADJOURN
A motion was made by Mr. Wiesman, seconded by Ms. Smith to adjourn. The motion
carried unanimously.
President Bradley declared the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
These minutes are approved and certified to be a true and correct reflection of the
actions of the Board members and are hereby certified to be an official copy thereof, on
file among the official records of the Board, on this the day of
