HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-25-10 WHPS MinMINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY October 25, 2010 PRESENT: President Sharon Sanden, Joyce Roach, Kristi Layton, Bert Schultz, Karen Stoltenberg ASSENT: Stephen Thornton OTHERS PRESENT: Allan Werst and Sarah Titus 1. CALL TO ORDER. President Sanden called the meeting to order at 1:35 P.M. 2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON August 30, 2010. Member Stoltenberg read the minutes. Mr. Werst had some changes regarding the pies. President Sanden asked for a motion. MOTION: Member Layton made a motion to approve the minutes, once the changes are made. Member Schultz seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE TREASURER'S REPORT The Treasurer's report was not read, as Member Layton was unable to get updated financials. There were not many changes from the previous month. 4. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES a) LIVING HISTORY PRESENTATION Member Schultz updated us on his progress for the Living History Presentation. At 4:00 on Monday, he is going to interface his laptop with the Westlake Academy system. At 4:00 on Tuesday, Member Schultz and Mr. Werst are going to arrive at Westlake Academy to set up for the presentation. Member Schultz and his wife have purchased the refreshments for the presentation. b) ANNUAL MEETING Mr. Werst will transport the flag to the Annual Meeting. Member Thornton contacted Benjamin Fain about playing the Hammered Dulcimer, and he will play from 6:30 to 7. Member Thornton will sing "America the Beautiful" and then, lead us into the Pledge of Allegiance. Member Roach will do a reading. President Sanden and Member Stoltenberg will work on the program. And, President Sanden gave Member Stoltenberg some history books to put out for the meeting. 5. UPCOMING EVENTS a) The Bradley Home Tour WHPS agreed to do this as a fundraiser. President Sanden and Mr. Werst will follow up with Kelly Bradley on the logistics. Member Layton and Member Stoltenberg agreed to help with refreshments. b) CHRISTMAS SET UP AT THE MUSEUM The WHPS board will decorate the museum for Christmas on Saturday, November, 20 at 9:00 A.M. c) DPS of Southlake Mr. Werst announced the DPS of Southlake would be giving a free tour of their new facility on November 8, 2010, at 7:00 P.M. d) Armistice Day Mr. Werst announced that this will be November 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Roanoke Water Tower. 6. ADJOURNMENT President Sanden asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Member Roach made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Schultz seconded the motion. The motion carried. President Sanden adjourned the meeting at 2:55 P.M.
