HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-27-10 WHPS MinMINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY September 27, 2010 PRESENT: President Sharon Sanden, Stephen Thornton, Bert Schultz, Karen Stoltenberg ABSENT: Kristi Layton and Joyce Roach OTHERS PRESENT. Allan Werst 1. CALL TO ORDER. President Sanden called the meeting to order at 1:55 p.m. 2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON August 30, 2010. Member Stoltenberg read the minutes. President Sanden asked for a motion. MOTION: Member Thornton made a motion to approve the minutes. Member Schultz seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE TREASURER'S REPORT The Treasurer's report was not read, as Kristi was absent. There were no changes from the previous month. 4. REPORTS FROM COMMITTEES a] LIVING HISTORY PRESENTATION Member Schultz updated us on his progress for the Living History Presentation. He worked with Ben Nibarger to get the information on the front page of the Westlake Academy website and posted around the school on flyers. Todd Wood posted the information on the town website as a Word document. Member Schultz will get the information to Member Stoltenberg so she can get invitations printed and mailed out. Member Schultz will check to see what time he can get into the school to set up for the presentation. b) ANNUAL MEETING Mr. Werst will transport the flag to the Annual Meeting. Member Thornton will contact Benjamin Fain about playing the Hammered Dulcimer, and he also volunteered to sing "America The Beautiful" and then, lead us into the Pledge of Allegiance. Member Stoltenberg will check with Member Roach about doing a reading, will get nametags made for all board members and Mr. Werst, and will get coffee cups, dessert plates, and valet parking. We decided to serve apple, pumpkin, and pecan pie, and peach and cherry cobbler, with the cost being divided among the board members and Mr. Werst. Member Stoltenberg and President Sanden will be responsible for getting the desserts. Member Stoltenberg will provide coffee, decaf coffee, hot apple cider, and bottled water. Member Schultz will provide ice cream. 5. UPCOMING EVENTS a) ARBOR DAY President Sanden said that Arbor Day will be held Saturday, October 16 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. She asked all available board members to come help at the table. b) CHRISTMAS SETUP AT THE MUSEUM President Sanden will decide on a date and time to decorate the museum for Christmas. 6. ADJOURNMENT President Sanden asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Member Stoltenberg made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried. President Sanden adjourned the meeting at 3:00 P.M.
