BOARD MEETING
APRIL 29, 2008
PRESENT: President Kelly Bradley, Board Members: Sharon Sanden, Teresa Walton,
Lisa Councilman, and Michelle Corson.

1. CALL TO ORDER
Member Sanden called the meeting to order at 6:19 p.m.
2. INTRODUCTIONS
President Bradley introduced Sandie Holzgra.efe who has started an Earthkind
Rose Test Garden in Farmers Branch in honor of her mother.
3. TREASURER'S REPORT
Member Layton was absent and no Treasurer's Report was presented.
4. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM MARCH 27, 2008
MEETING
Member Corson presented an overview of the minutes. There were no edits. As a
quorum was not present, the minutes could not be approved.
S. HISTORY BOOK UPDATE
President Bradley indicated that the publisher had advised Ms. Roach that the
book was too long and that 4501 photos and 9,0010 words needed to be cut. Ms.
Councilman advised the board that she feels book sales are hampered by the lack

of a mock-up book or something tangible for prospective buyers to see. She
believes that the pace of book sales will increase when the book is available. The
publisher still owes us a postcard and poster for marketing purposes and is
planning to order the leather, so the size must be fixed at that point. Ms.
Councilman also asked for volunteers to market the book at the Westlake
Academy event on Friday night.
G. PRESIDENT'S REPORT
There was no President's Report presented.
7. MEMBERSHIP REPORT
Ms. Thomason indicated that while book sales were up, membership sales were
down from last year. There are 52 paid memberships to -date after two letters and
thank you notes have been sent. There have been 61 paid orders for books and 16
pending orders.
8. DECORATION DAY REPORT
Ms. Walton did not present a report on Decoration Day as board members had
been present for a meeting immediately prior to the board meeting. From that
meeting: the town will build a stage which WHPS may use. Troy Meyer will
purchase small flags for use at the event. Joyce Roach suggested Trent Petty do a
re-enactment involving Hugh White of Keller. Member Heath will take care of
signage. Member Thornton will handle toilets. Member Councilman will have
book sales activity at the sign -in table. Heidi Kloempken will take care of
advertising in the Westlake Academy newspaper. Member Corson will handle
letters to dignitaries. Firemen will handle cooking, unless they get called away.
President Bradley will handle media. Don Wilson will talk with Todd Wood
about the phone announcement. Member Heath and his wife will handle photos
and videos. Troy Meyer will oversee the tree planting and is looking at the
possibility of a flyover.
9. OLD BUSINESS
Heidi Kloempkin indicated that five groups from Westlake Academy were
advancing to the state competition in history in Austin.
10. ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
MOTION: Member Walton motioned to adjourn. Member Councilman
seconded, the motion carried, and the meeting adjourned at 7:15
p.m.
