Westlake History Museum
Sunday, April 18, 2010
Members Present: Sharon Sanden, Jack Wiesman, Heidi Kloempken, Kristi Layton,
Karen Stoltenberg, Joyce Roach (arrived later)
1. Call to Order 1:10 pm
2. Minutes were not taken for the March meeting, no votes were taken.
3. Treasurer's Report
a. There has been an income of $7200, and expenditures from October 2009
to March 2010 of $223.50.
b. The sponsorship for Decoration Day is by Coldwell Banker and
individuals.
c. Memberships have been arriving.
d. There is a separate line item for the Memorial Fund. All sections are
separated for bookkeeping purposes.
e. Secretary Kloempken moved to pass the financial report. Member
Stoltenberg second.
i. Motion carried, Treasurer's Report passed.
4. Old Business
a. Member Roach was not present at this time to update us about the bylaws.
i. President Sanden shared that the attorney is looking over them at
this time.
b. Junior Historians will help with the World War I1 exhibit to be put in place
May 15. The items are an army uniform, medals, newspapers, ration
books, maps, magazines and other memorabilia.
5. Membership
a. As mentioned in the Treasurer's Report, memberships are arriving and
doing well. The goal is to surpass last year's membership totals.
6. Decoration Day:
a. Redeemer Church is going to take care of the music. All of the items are
coming into place, including the flyby. There will be posters at the school
and included in the communique sent out.
7. Arbor Day: There will probably not be meetings in June and July so start
thinking about those dates in the future.
8. Date for the Annual Meeting: Treasurer Layton and Member Stoltenberg will
work on that around October 28 or November 4. Again, keep this in mind but it
will be officially decided in the fall.
9. Activities and Events: Bill Greenwood and Bert are interested in speaking in
October and November along with highlighting the last 10 years of the Westlake
Historical and Preservation Society. Also consider how Junior Historians can be
involved.
10. Treasurer Layton motioned adjournment. Member Stoltenberg second.
a. Motion passed and the meeting adjourned at 1:53pm.
