BOARD MEETING
MARCH 27, 2008
PRESENT: Board Members Sharon Sanden, Teresa Walton, Allen Heath, Kristi
Layton, Jack Wiesman, Lisa Councilman, and Michelle Corson.
ABSENT: President Kelly Bradley, Stephen Thornton, and Ruby Held

1. CALL TO ORDER
Member Sanden called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
2. TREASURER'S REPORT
Member Layton presented the Treasurer's Report indicating an ending balance of
$22,072.00 and suggested a change in the format of the report to remove detailed
analysis of dedicated expenditures which have been fully depleted and the board
concurred.
MOTION: Member Corson made a motion to approve the Treasurer's Report.
Member Heath seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
3. CONSIDER APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM FEBRUARY 22, 2008
MEETING
Member Corson presented an overview of the minutes. There were no edits.
MOTION: Member Walton made a motion to approve the minutes, which was
seconded by Member Layton. The motion carried unanimously.

4. HISTORY BOOK UPDATE

Joyce Roach indicated that changes to the biographies had been incorporated and
the illustrations were being placed at this time. She suggested we keep the
original hard copies of the books and has boxes of research for them that she has
asked to have kept at the museum. No date for delivery of the books has been
given, but she indicated we are "moving apace" toward the book's completion.
Member Councilman indicated that flyers, posters and postcards were being
designed by the book's publisher and that she is pursuing first the possibility of
having printing for marketing collateral donated. She asked that board members
participate in choosing illustrations for use in the marketing pieces. She further
indicated that she will forward a marketing plan when it is complete.
5. REPORT ON WESTLAKE ACADEMY HISTORY DAY
Heidi Kloempken, history teacher and head of the Junior Historians at Westlake
Academy indicated that 12 students went to the regional competition and 5 were
going onto the state competition in Austin.
6. DECORATION DAY UPDATE
Member Walton gave an overview of the work that has been done to prepare for
Decoration Day. She has gotten Dave Lieber secured as emcee. Trent Petty has
committed to the historic re-enactment. Troy is working on the flags. Don
Wilson indicated that he and Troy have been contacting the military for their
participation. Discussion ensued about a "staged" tree planting and the board
agreed this was a good idea. Member Corson indicated that the Public Art
Society of Westlake would like to fund the cost of Cowtown Opry and would also
like to sponsor a kids' event (painting tiles for a future mosaic). The board was
receptive of both offers. Member Councilman suggested that the advanced strings
group from the school could play in between sets. Heidi Kloempkin offered to
check on the availability of student volunteers.
7. PRESIDENT'S REPORT
With President Bradley absent, there was no President's Report.
8. ADJOURNMENT
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 15a' at 6:00 p.m.
MOTION: Member Walton motioned to adjourn. Member Heath seconded,
the motion carried, and the meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
