HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-28-11 WHPS MinMINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY February 28, 2011 PRESENT: President Sharon Sanden, Joyce Roach, Bert Schultz, Karen Stoltenberg, Stephen Thornton, Sarah Titus ABSENT: Kristi Layton 1. CALL TO ORDER. President Sanden called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. 2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2010. Member Stoltenberg read the minutes. President Sanden asked for a motion. MOTION: Member Thornton made a motion to approve the minutes, once a few changes were made. Member Titus seconded the motion. The motion carried. Member Stoltenberg will send out the updated minutes. 3. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE TREASURER'S REPORT Member Layton was unable to be present, so the Treasurer's Report was not read. 4. UPCOMING EVENTS a) Membership President Sanden brought up the subject of having a lifetime membership. She asked the board to think about how to do it and what to charge. Some initial thoughts were $500 for a lifetime membership and $1000 for a memorial marker membership. (The memorial marker would add the person's name). Member Stoltenberg will contact Southlake Historical Society to see what they charge for their memberships, and Member Thornton will contact the Grapevine and Denton Historical Societies to see what they charge. Member Schultz will prepare a proposal for a memorial marker and a memorial membership for the next meeting. We also discussed adding a $10 student membership. MOTION: Member Thornton made a motion to add a $10 student membership. Member Titus seconded the motion. The motion carried. b) Decoration Day President Sanden is working on a sponsorship. She has contacted a company, and they are thinking about it. Maguire Partners will donate 400 hot dogs, buns, and condiments. Member Stoltenberg will check with Pastor Brewer about doing the invocation and providing waters. President Sanden will contact the groups to do the presentations. MOTION: Member Thornton made a motion that we proceed with the same format as the year prior (2010), but that we be cognizant of the cost. Member Schultz seconded the motion. The motion carried. 5. ADJOURNMENT President Sanden asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Member Stoltenberg made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Schultz seconded the motion. The motion carried. President Sanden adjourned the meeting at 3:20 P.M.
