HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-23-12 WHPS MinMINUTES OF THE WESTLAKE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY January 23, 2012 Westlake History Museum 3 Village Circle, Suite 104 PRESENT: President Bert Schultz, Kelly Bradley, Megan Brady, Kristi Layton, Karen Stoltenberg, Stephen Thornton ABSENT: Jim Budarf 1. CALL TO ORDER. President Schultz called the meeting to order at 1:35 P.M. 2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE WHPS MEETING HELD ON September 28, 2011. President Schultz asked for a motion. MOTION: Member Bradley made a motion to approve the minutes. Member Layton seconded the motion. The motion carried. 3. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE TREASURER'S REPORT Member Layton gave an informal treasurer's report as the numbers are awaiting final reconciliation from the Antique Car Show. Motion: Member Bradley made a motion to hold off on approving the Treasurer's report until the next meeting. Member Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried. 4. MEMBERSHIP REPORT Member Layton reported that we have had no new members since our last meeting. The next membership up for renewal is March 1, 2012. President Schultz and Member Layton will revise the Membership letter for 2012. WHPS Minutes 01/23/20112 Page 1 of 3 5. OLD BUSINESS u) Antique Car Show President Schultz reported that the Antique Car Show was highly successful, and WH PS plans to do it again next year on October 20, 2012, with the rain date being October 27, 2012. Member Brady suggested that we sell food next year. President Schultz suggested asking the Solana vendors first if they would like the opportunity to sell food before looking for other options. Member Thornton suggested that participants be told in advance whether it is open or closed hood. (Itis closed hood). Member Thornton also suggested that we find away to make sure signs cannot be stolen again. Final numbers will be reported at the next meeting. 6. NEW BUSINESS a) Spring Living History Presentation Date The Living History Presentations are held on the 4`i' Tuesday of April and October, so the next one will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Westlake Academy. Jim Schubert is the speaker, and he will be speaking on the Evolution and Significance of the Texas Flag. b) Historic Marker Dedication Day The first dedication will be May 12, 2012, and it will be either the Buck icing Chimney on Tim and Kristin Brittan's property or Paigebrooke on Scott and Kelly Bradley's property. WHPS Minutes 01/23/2012 Pagel of :z 0 7. OTHER BUSINESS a) Essay Contest Member Brady volunteered to chair the Essay Contest for Westlake Academy. She will email the History teachers, and she will come up with a proposal for the next meeting. Members Layton and Stoltenberg will assist. 8. ADJOURNMENT President Schultz asked for a motion to adjourn the meeting. MOTION: Member Bradley made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Member Thornton seconded the motion. The motion carried. President Schultz adjourned the meeting at 3:12 P.M. The next meeting will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. at the Westlake Museum.
