EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (INCLUDING APPLICABLE ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY )
The Town Council called an ordered the General Election on January 26, 2015, to be held on
May 9, 2015, for the purpose of electing three (3) Council Members for two (2) year terms.
In accordance with the Texas Election Code, results of the May 9, 2015, general election must be
canvassed not later than the 11th day after the election.
Both Denton and Tarrant counties provided official results that show Carol K. Langdon, Rick
Rennhack, and Wayne Stoltenberg were elected by the citizens of West lake.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the ordinance canvassing the results of the May 9, 2015, General Election.

ORDINANCE NO. 748
AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 9, 2015, FOR THE ELECTION OF A
THREE (3) COUNCIL MEMBERS TO TERMS EXPIRING MAY 2017.
WHEREAS, the Town Council called an ordered the General Election on January 26,
2015; and
WHEREAS, the general election for the Town of Westlake as set forth by the Texas
Election Code, was held on May 9, 2015, for the purpose of electing three (3) Council Members
for two (2) year terms; and
WHEREAS, it is hereby found and determined that notice of the election was duly given
in the form, manner and time required by law, and said election was in all respects legally held
and conducted in accordance with applicable laws of the State of Texas and the proceedings
governing the holding of such elections; and
WHEREAS, such canvass shows the following results:

THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
WESTLAKE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: RECITALS FOUND TRUE. All of the recitals contained in the
preamble of this ordinance are found to be true and are adopted as findings of fact and a part of
this Town Council’s judgment.
SECTION 2: ELECTION CANVASSED AND DECLARED EFFECTIVE. It is
further found and determined that the results of the election are as canvassed and tabulated in the
preamble hereof and in Exhibit “A” attached hereto. The Town Council further finds the
following:

GENERAL ELECTION
Carol K. Langdon has been elected as Council Member to a term expiring May 2017
Rick Rennhack has been elected as Council Member to a term expiring May 2017
Wayne Stoltenberg has been elected as Council Member to a term expiring May 2017
SECTION 3: TOWN SECRETARY TO RECORD ELECTION RESULTS. The
Town Secretary is hereby authorized and directed to make the appropriate entries of information
appearing in the tabulation of precinct results shown in Exhibit “A” attached hereto in the
election register maintained by the Town in accordance with provisions of Section 67.006 of the
Election Code.
SECTION 4: CITY STAFF TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTIONS TO GIVE
EFFECT. The Town Manager, Town Secretary, and Town Attorney are hereby authorized and
instructed to take all actions necessary to give effect to this ordinance and the election, as
provided by law.
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be effective upon its
adoption.

Pursuant to Local Government Code Section 22.037 the Council shall elect a Mayor Pro
Tempore following the May General election.
The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform the duties of the Mayor in cases of absence or inability of the
Mayor to perform such duties.
The Mayor Pro Tem shall have the right to vote as a member of the Council.
