HomeMy WebLinkAboutWAF presentation 5 10 10FY09-10 Activities & Initiatives FY10-11 Planned Efforts •BlackSmith Annual Fund (October 1-31, 2009) –“Be a Smith!” campaign –$442,000 in gifts and pledges from 60% of 258 families, corporations, and staff •Over $27,000 in corporate matching gifts •An additional $10,000 pending with Fidelity Foundation (not included in $442K) –Currently 81% of contributions have been received and transferred for school operations •Westlake Baja (November 16, 2009) –$261,000 net for Fund100 for Teachers –$500,000 pledge by Deloitte for endowed fund for teachers –Working on grant guidelines to award Fund100 monies •Gallery Night (February 26, 2010) –Record $240,000 raised thanks to record 280 guests. –Included in event total are record sponsorships (nearly $70,000) and the Live auction’s new feature, Fund-an-Item, this year for Westlake Academy buses ($85,000) •Arts & Sciences Capital Campaign –Raised $1.5 million in gifts and pledges –In last phase of pledge collection Friend-raising Efforts •Grandparents Day –Hosted over 120 guests for breakfast, student performances, and class visits (November 2009) •Northwest Metroport Chamber –Booth at “Best of Northwest” Expo (November 2009) –Co-hosted Chamber Mixer at Academy (January 2010) –Serving on “Celebrating Women in Business” committee (June 30, 2010) •National Education Foundation Association –Professional Networking (North TX chapter) –Texas School Public Relations Association membership •Westlake Academy Alumni Association –Senior Night – welcome inaugural members (May 20, 2010) –Underwriting senior student/teacher breakfast (May 21, 2010) –Meeting with seniors re. class gift, reunions, campus visits –Alumni Parents –> ways to continue involvement Summer 2010 & FY10-11 Planned Activities and Initiatives The Foundation anticipates maintaining all current levels of fundraising and friend-raising efforts as well as working to attract new supporters for Westlake Academy. •Fundraising –BlackSmith Annual Fund –Westlake Baja –Gallery Night –Research and submit grant proposals in line with Academy strategic plan –Identify and cultivate prospects for endowment building and planned giving efforts •Continue Service and Membership –Northwest MetroPort Chamber of Commerce –National Education Foundation Association & North TX chapter –Texas School Public Relations Association membership •Administration –Alumni Association – outreach to alumni, engage and enlist alumni parents –Review and formalize internal processes and procedures to enhance cultivation and solicitation efforts as well as administration of existing funds –Explore creating a 5-year strategic plan to align the Foundation’s efforts with the funding priorities of Westlake Academy. –Recently purchased software to better track donor contributions, pledges and payments –Create investment policy to effectively manage endowments
