Goal: To identify upcoming replacement needs for
fleet/vehicles through a scoring system and/or
depreciation schedule according to mileage and
average life span.
•Vehicles/equipment will be scored annually by each
department head
•Annual depreciation allowance will be placed in the
restricted capital maintenance fund
•Information will be incorporated into the five-year financial
forecast to increase accuracy in expenditure estimates
•Finance Department will maintain the replacement and
depreciation schedules

Fire Engine - (Life Span = 15 year avg.)
Ambulances – (Life Span = 7 year avg.)
Category B & C: Maintenance/Public Works Vehicles
Cars / Pickups (pool car, warrant officer patrol
car, building inspection truck)

Maintenance cost - Need driver side window motor
repaired $500, 2 points
Condition - Poor paint and body condition, hail damage,
rust spots, small dents, interior - rips, tears,
stains, cracking on seat covers 5 points
