FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Any Council member may request at a workshop and / or Council meeting, under “Future Agenda Item Requests”, an agenda item for a future Council meeting. The Council Member making the request will contact the Town Manager with the requested item and the Town Manager will list it on the agenda. At the meeting, the requesting Council Member will explain the item, the need for Council discussion of the item, the item’s relationship to the Council’s strategic priorities, and the amount of estimated staff time necessary to prepare for Council discussion. If the requesting Council Member receives a second, the Town Manager will place the item on the Council agenda calendar allowing for adequate time for staff preparation on the agenda item. 7. RECOMMENDATION Ordinance ATTACHMENTS: Exhibit to Ordinance (election results) Ordinance 639 Page 1 of 2 TOWN OF WESTLAKE ORDINANCE NO. 639 AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 8, 2010, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR AND TWO (2) COUNCIL MEMBERS TO TERMS EXPIRING MAY 2012. WHEREAS, the general election of 2010 was duly called and held in the Town of Westlake, Texas on the 8th day of May 2010, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two (2) Town Council Members to serve terms of two-years; and WHEREAS, it is hereby found and determined that notice of the election was duly given in the form, manner and time required by law, and said election was in all respects legally held and conducted in accordance with applicable laws of the State of Texas and the proceedings governing the holding of such elections; and WHEREAS, such canvass shows the following results: Early Votes Cast Election Day Votes Total Mayor Laura Wheat 105 59 164 Tim Brittan 94 50 144 Council Member Rebecca Rollins 78 39 117 Clif Cox 68 50 118 Kevin Hansen 64 47 111 Total Ballots Cast 252 THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS: SECTION 1: RECITALS FOUND TRUE. All of the recitals contained in the preamble of this ordinance are found to be true and are adopted as findings of fact and a part of this Town Council’s judgment. SECTION 2: ELECTION CANVASSED AND DECLARED EFFECTIVE. It is further found and determined that the results of the election are as canvassed and tabulated in the preamble hereof and in Exhibit “A” attached hereto. SECTION 4: CITY STAFF TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTIONS TO GIVE EFFECT. The Town Manager, Town Secretary, and Town Attorney are hereby authorized and instructed to take all actions necessary to give effect to this ordinance and the election, as provided by law.
