Re: Contract Renewal Proposal
Dear Jarrod:
Thanks for taking time to meet with me regarding our contract with the Town of Westlake.
Per our discussion I have drafted a contract renewal proposal. As you will recall, in 2008
we proposed carts for both trash and recycle and a rate increase which the Board of
Alderman approved. At the time of transitioning to carts we discussed opportunities to
increase the recycle participation and had a goal of changing the trash service to one time
per week at a later date.
Allied Waste Services would like to propose the following to enhance the environmental
initiatives set forth by the Town:
¾ Change the trash service to 1x per week
¾ Provide additional recycling carts to residents at no additional charge
¾ Extend the contract for 5 additional years thru 12/31/2016
¾ Current rate of $10.75 would be effective until 9/30/2012
¾ Increase recycle education to residents
¾ Partner with Westlake Academy to provide recycling education program for
students
¾ Brush and bulk service would continue to be provided 2x’s per month
¾ An education program provided in partnership with the Town for all lawn
service providers in Westlake
We have built a strong partnership with the Town of Westlake and have provided superior
service to both residents and commercial customers over the past four years. In 2010 we
have had (4) four residential miss complaints and (1) one damaged mailbox, all of which
were resolved in a timely manner. I have provided a list of benefits for both the Town and
Allied in the presentation prepared for the workshop on November 8, 2010.

Thanks again for the opportunity to provide solid waste and recycling services to the Town
of Westlake.
Sincerely,
