TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING
May 28, 2009
PRESENT: Vice -chair Allen Heath and Commissioners Walter Copeland and Sharon Sanden.
ABSENT: Chairman Bill Greenwood.
OTHERS PRESENT: Town Manager Thomas Brymer, Town Secretary Kim Sutter, and
Planning and Development Director Eddie Edwards,
1. CALL TO ORDER.
Vice -chair Heath called the meeting to order at 6:08 p.m.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON APRIL 23, 2009.
Vice -chair Heath introduced the item and asked for a motion.
MOTION: Commissioner Copeland made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.
Commissioner Sanden seconded the motion. The motion carried by a vote of
3-0.
3. CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION
REGARDING AN APPLICATION FOR A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT, SUP -09-01,
FOR A PRIVATE WATER WELL TO BE LOCATED AT 1802 HIGH COUNTRY
DRIVE.
Planning and Development Director Edwards presented the case to the Commission. Mr.
Edwards stated that, in the future, water wells will not require a SUP.
Vice -chair Heath stated that he thought the purpose of a SUP was to track the location of
water wells in the Town.
Town Manager Brymer stated that if the Council determines that tracking water wells is
necessary, the water wells would be tracked via a water well permit process.

Mr. Charlie Collins, Superintendent of Key Custom Homes and representing the applicant
was present to address questions of the Commission.
Vice -chair Heath opened the public hearing.
There being no one requesting to speak, Vice -chair Heath requested a motion to close the
public hearing.
MOTION: Commissioner Copeland made a motion to close the public hearing.
Commissioner Sanden seconded the motion. The motion carried by a vote of
3-0.
Vice -chair Heath closed the public hearing and asked for a motion.
MOTION: Commissioner Copeland made a motion to recommend approval of the
Specific Use Permit for a private water well to be located at 1802 High
Country Drive. Commissioner Sanden seconded the motion. The motion
carried by a vote of 3-0.

MOTION: Commissioner Copeland made a motion to recommend approval of the

carried by a vote of 3-0.
5. ADJOURNMENT.
MOTION: Commissioner Sanden made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner
Copeland seconded the motion. The motion carried by a vote of 3-0.
Vice -chair Heath adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
