Integrated Pest Management, IPM, is a strategy that provides quality pest control using the least hazardous chemicals and techniques and to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors to our campus.  Everyone has a part in a IMP Facilities Teacher & Staff Students & parents Cleaning staff IPM Policy To protect children, the Texas Legislature passed a law in the early 1990’s requiring that IPM practices be used to manage pests in and around school facilities. Texas Department of Health Services Texas Department of Agriculture BOT Passed IMP Policy 2006 Rodent IMP Update May Terminix set 170 traps the first weekend in the PYP Buildings - one rat was caught 180 traps set second week in all buildings; 3 juvenile rats were caught 40 bait stations set up outside the buildings Removed a dead rat from within the wall in Room 124 Two adult rats caught Cleaned above the cabinets and counter top cleaned. Janet A. (It is the original carpet, is 10 years old, and is due for replacement.) Replace all carpet in the entire PYP building (it is the original carpet, and it’s 10 years old.) Remove the carpet from only the PYP class rooms where there is evidence of a problem. Remove all carpet from all PYP class rooms. If sound and acoustics are a problem, use an area rug in the areas where student work on the floor
