HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-09-04 TC MinMinutes of the Board of Aldermen meeting TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN August 9, 2004 Present: Scott Bradley, Mayor Fred Held, Mayor Pro Tem Buddy Brown, Member Bill Frey, Member Don Redding, Member Larry Sparrow, Member Trent Petty, Town Manager Stan Lowry, Town Attorney Ginger Crosswy, Town Secretary Absent: No one. Item # 1: Mayor Bradley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Page 1 of 2 WICYSSMIZZ Item #2: The Board convened into executive session at 7:03 p.m. as Mayor Bradley read the items to be discussed. The Board reconvened into open session at 7:35 p.m. Item 43: No action was required coming out of executive session. Item 44: Citizens' Presentations: Ruby Held of 4105 Aspen Lane in Westlake, asked why her veterinarian said that her pet's rabies vaccination is only good for two years when they are good for three years in other towns around here. Mr. Lowry explained that the legislature changed the requirements for vaccinations, giving towns flexibility in choosing the length of time between vaccinations. The Mayor asked that this be added to a future agenda for the Board to consider. Item #5: Conduct a Public Hearing concerning Southwestern Bell phone service complaints in Westlake. Mr. Petty told the Board that Mr. Gary Terry was in attendance to address this issue. Alderman Redding gave the background on this item. The Public Hearing was opened at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Terry addressed the assembly stating that SBC's records for the past few years do not show many complaints regarding Stagecoach Hills and that is what the company looks at in determining where there is a problem. He introduced Mr. Marcus Fuller who is with the SBC repair group. There was a lengthy discussion regarding problems with the phone and internet service in Stagecoach Hills with the following people speaking concerning this issue: Buddy Brown, Bill Frey, Sharon Sanden, Wanda Haskins, Bill Buckmeyer, Allen Heath, Mark Hammack and Steve Johnson. Mayor Bradley then asked if any other citizen present would like to adopt these comments as their own. All the Stagecoach Hills residents present at the meeting raised their hands to signify their agreement with all of the comments made by the residents who spoke. Mr. Terry stated that SBC will collect the phone numbers and run tests on all of the phone lines during wet weather and try to determine how this problem can be solved. He told the assembly that there would be no improvement in the internet speed in the near future due to financial issues. The Public Hearing was closed at 8:23 p.m. Item #6: Consent agenda. Review and approve minutes of the workshop and regular meeting held on July 26, 2004. B. Review and approve any outstanding bills. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. Item #7: There was a motion by Alderman Brown, seconded by Alderman Held, to adjourn. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously.
