HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-12-04 TC MinMinutes of the Board of Aldermen meeting TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN January 12, 2004 Present: Scott Bradley, Mayor Fred Held, Mayor;Pro Tem Buddy Brown, Member Bill Frey, Member Larry Sparrow, Member Trent Petty, Town Manager Stan Lowry, Town Attorney Ginger Crosswy, Town Secretary Absent: Don Redding, Member Page 1 of 2 SY;M E Item 41: Mayor Bradley called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. by announcing a quorum of Board members. Item #2: Mayor Bradley introduced Texas Representative Vicki Truitt. Representative Truitt presented a Texas flag that had flown over the state capital to the Town to hang in the new Town Hall. Mayor Bradley and the members of the Board of Aldermen accepted the flag thanking Representative Truitt for the gift and stating it would hang in a prominent place in the Town Hall. Item 43: The Board convened into executive session at 7:20 p.m. as Mayor Bradley read the items to be discussed. The Board reconvened into open session at 7:32 p.m. Item #4: No action was needed coming out of executive session. Item #5: Citizens' Presentations: No one wished to address the Board. Item #6: Consider a Resolution authorizing the Town Manager to enter into a contract with Courtesy Building Services for janitorial services for the Municipal complex and amending the 2003/04 budget to include the contract amount. Mr. Petty told the Board this item was not ready for consideration and would be placed on the agenda for the next meeting. Item #7: Consider a Resolution amending the 2003/04 Visitors Association budget to create a category entitled "Marketing and Promotions". Mr. Petty explained this item to the Board. There was a motion by Alderman Sparrow, seconded by Alderman Held, to adopt Resolution No. 04-01. After a short question and answer session the motion carried unanimously. Item #8: Consider a Resolution amending the By -Laws of the Westlake Academy Foundation and filling the vacant seats on the Board of Directors. Mr. Petty told the Board that the amendment recommended would require the current chair of the Westlake Academy Parent Teacher Organization, known as the House of Commons fill a seat on the Board of Directors of the Westlake Academy Foundation. The current Chair is Melissa Sircar and staff is recommending Rena Hardeman be appointed to fill the other vacant position. There was a motion by Alderman Sparrow, seconded by Alderman Held, to approve Resolution No. 04-02. There was a motion by Alderman Frey, seconded by Alderman Brown, to approve the consent agenda, which included the following: A. Review and approve minutes of the regular meeting held on December 8, 2003. B. Review and approve any outstanding bills. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. Mayor Bradley read a thank you card from Dawn Lenzie for flowers sent by the Town when she was in the hospital. Mayor Bradley read a Proclamation from Texas Senator Jane Nelson recognizing the Town's opening of the Civic Complex. Item #10: There was a motion by Alderman Held, seconded by Alderman Sparrow, to adjourn. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Approved by the Board of Aldermen on January 26, 2004.
