HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-09-02 TC MinMinutes of the Board of Aldermen meeting TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN September 9, 2002 Present: Scott Bradley, Mayor Fred Held, Mayor Pro Tem Buddy Brown, Member Bill Frey, Member Larry Sparrow, Member Stan Lowry, Town Attorney Ginger Crosswy, Town Secretary Absent: Don Redding, Member Trent Petty, Town Manager Page 1 of 2 Item #I:Mayor Bradley called the safety meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. by announcing a quorum, consisting of Alderman Held, Alderman Brown, Alderman Frey and Alderman Sparrow. Item #2: Matthew Wylie, Jim Cuddihee and Cory Williams of Manhattan Construction gave a presentation of the safety program used on the site of the Civic Campus. The Board viewed a 15 minute video outlining the various safety precautions to be taken when on site. Item #3: The safety meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. Item #4: The regular meeting was called to order in the Education Center located at 3 Village Circle at 7:04 p.m. Item #5: The Board convened into executive session at 7:06 p.m. as Mayor Bradley read the items to be discussed. The Board recessed out of executive session at 7:52 p.m. and reconvened into open session at 7:59 p.m. Item #6: Coming out of executive session there was a motion by Alderman Held, seconded by Alderman Frey, to increase the Town secretary's salary by $5000.00 effective September 1st when she completed the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. Item #7: Citizens Presentation. Kelly Bradley of 10 Paigebrooke Lane and Ruby Held of 4105 Aspen Lane passed out letters to the Board and gave a short presentation detailing a project that the Westlake Preservation Board would like to undertake. Ms. Bradley also told the Aldermen that the Board needs approximately $1000.00 to finish mailing out the historical journal "The Pathfinder." The Town secretary was asked to schedule a workshop for the Aldermen before the regular meeting on October 14th to see a detailed presentation of the project. Stephen Thornton of 13187 Thornton Drive passed out a thank you letter from the Trophy Club 4th of July Celebration Committee for the private donations made by the citizens of Westlake. Mr. Thornton made a short presentation regarding the budget for the Tree City USA Adivsory Committee and was asked to speak with the Town manager concerning this issue. http://www.westlake-tx.org/agendas/amO90902.htm 09/24/2002 Minutes of the Board of Aldermen meeting Page 2 of 2177 Item #8: There was a motion by Alderman Held, seconded by Alderman Brown, to adopt a Proclamation to ,nor the victims of September 11, 2001. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. Item #9: Consent agenda. Motion by Alderman Sparrow, seconded by Alderman Brown, to approve the consent agenda, which included the following: A. Review and approve minutes of the regular meeting held on August 26, 2002. B. Review and approve minutes of the budget workshop held on August 26, 2002. C. Review and approve any outstanding bills. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. At this time Mayor Bradley read an announcment outlining the tribute that will be held on Wednesday, September 11 for the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. Mayor Bradley read a thank you note from Greg Tucker and gave a short update on Mr. Tucker's progress in the hospital. Item #10: There was a motion by Alderman Brown, seconded by Aldermen Held, to adjourn. There was no discussion and the motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m. `pproved by the Board of Aldermen on September 23, 2002.
