HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-10-97 TC Min324 TOWN OF WESTLAKE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN NOVEMBER 10, 1997 Present: Scott Bradley, Mayor Fred Held, Member David Loeser, Member Paul Isham, Town Attorney Eldridge Goins, Legal Consultant David Margulies, Public Relations Consultant Allen Heath, Planning and Zoning Commissioner Don Redding, Planning and Zoning Commissioner Sarah Brown, Planning and Zoning Commissioner Buddy Brown, Planning and Zoning Commissioner Ginger Crosswy, Town Secretary Absent: Charla Bradshaw, Mayor Pro -Tem Jerry Dinsmore, Member Abe Bush, Jr., Member Also present: Ann Diamond, Assistant Tarrant County District Attorney, Dale White and Dee Kelly, Jr. At 7:35 p.m. Mayor Bradley announced that there was no quorum. He told the audience that Alderman Bush and Alderman Dinsmore were out of town but we would wait until 8:00 p.m. to see if Alderman Bradshaw arrives. Mayor Bradley then introduced Ann Diamond of the Tarrant County District Attorneys' office. Ms. Diamond spoke to the assembly telling them of the ruling made by the Second Court of Appeals. The ruling states that Mayor Bradley was legally removed from office and Dale White is the legal mayor of the Town of Westlake. Ms. Diamond told the audience that although this is not a popular ruling, it is the law and the law must be followed. Ms. Diamond then answered numerous questions from the audience. David Brown of 4050 Aspen Lane in Westlake, addressed the audience and presented a petition to Alderman Held signed by 81 registered voters and residents of Westlake asking the Board of Aldermen to immediately bring charges against the appointed mayor, Dale White, and remove him from office under the same Texas statute that was used to remove Mayor Bradley. Mr. Brown then read the petition to the assembly. Mayor Bradley then apologized to the audience for the inconvenience and announced that there would be no meeting.
