HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-02-97 PZ Min301 TOWN OF WESTLAKE MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 2, 1997 Present: Bill Greenwood, Chairman Buddy Brown, Member Sarah Brown, Member Allen Heath, Member Paul C. Isham, Town Attorney Dennis Wilson, Town Planner Ginger Crosswy, Town Secretary Absent: Don Redding, Member Mr. Greenwood called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. by welcoming the new members to the commission. He then introduced Mr. Isham and Mr. Wilson to the new members. Mr. Isham told the Board a little about his background in municipal law. He then made a presentation to the Board that included the function of the commission in regard to planning and zoning issues. The powers and duties of the Planning and Zoning Commission were discussed along with what is considered a conflict of interest. Mr. Isham briefly talked about the liability of the commissioners and how they are covered by the Town's insurance because they are officials of the Town. Mr. Wilson then gave the Board his background in architecture and Town planning. He told the Board that the unified development code revisions are just about complete as he has sent a draft to the Mayor and Town attorney. The next step is a joint workshop with the Board of Aldermen to examine the revisions. Mr. Greenwood requested that Mr. Wilson prepare an "executive summary" of the unified development code. Mr. Wilson briefly described to the commissioners the procedure to follow when a developer files for a PD. After a lengthy question and answer session the commissioners decided to set a regular meeting schedule. The commission will meet on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m..
