April 9, 1997
Today Judge Lee Gabriel of the 367" District Court in Denton
County has dissolved the Temporary Restraining Order which
prevented the Town of Westlake's Board of Aldermen from taking
action on Ordinance No. 270. Additionally, the Judge denied the
Plaintiffs request that a Temporary Injunction be entered.
Ordinance No. 270 corrects the Town's boundaries and includes in
the Town only those areas which have been legally annexed.
The Board of Aldermen are hopeful that this ruling along with the
passage of Ordinance No. 270 will be the first step in bringing
closure to this matter and allow the Town to move past this
unfortunate episode. The Mayor's attempts to include six tracts of
land, including Stagecoach Hills, in the Town without following the
proper legal steps has caused a great deal of turmoil and hardship
for the entire Town. The residents of Stagecoach Hills have also
suffered in this ordeal, and the Board of Aldermen want those
residents to know that the Board will work to continue the services
currently being provided to the residents of Stagecoach Hills.
