Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Aldermen for
the Town of Westlake, Texas.
Present: Mayor Scott Bradley, Mayor Pro -tem Carroll Huntress,
Aldermen: Howard Dudley, Fred Held, Jerry Moore, Al
Oien, City Attorney Paul Isham.
Absent: None
Item #1: Meeting called to order, minutes of the December 12, 1995
approved as presented.
Item #2: CITIZENS PRESENTATIONS: Tom Allen with Maguire Thomas was
present and concerned how the additional 1/2o sales and use
tax revenue would be used - would it be used for services
that the larger payees would benefit? It was explained that
the majority of the tax would be paid by other people and
was not intended to tax the present businesses or the resid-
ents of Westlake. Mr. Allen stated he did not have any com-
plaint, just concerned.
GERRY WHITE, the former Town Secretary, now the Election Judge
for the Town, requested the Aldermen's consent for the Town
Secretary and her to attend the Election Law School in Austin
on January 25,26 & 27th, 1995 and also the election law school
that the Secretary of State has in the fall of the year.
The consensus of the Aldermen was to grant this request.
Item 3: Motion by Howard Dudley, seconded by Al Oien to adopt
Ordinance, creating a higher education authority.
Motion carried unanimously.
Item #4: Motion by Al Oien, seconded by Fred Held to table the matter
of approving a resolution authorizing the formation of a
corporation under the Higher Education Authority Act, appoint-
ing the initial board of directors, until the Special Meeting
to be held on January 23, 1995.
Motion Carried unanimously.
Item #5: No other business to be discussed by the Board of Alderman,
Meeting adjourned at 8:50 P. M.
