HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-06-92 TC MinMINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN FOR THE TOWN OF WESTLAKE APRIL 6, 1992 1. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:03 P.M. Those in attendance were Mayor Dale White, Aldermen Sherry Dudley, Howard Dudley, Al Oien, and Fred Held, Town Engineer Bud Hauptmann, Town Attorney, Paul Isham, and Town Planners Dennis Wilson and Rowland Jackson. Also in attendance were Scott Bradley, D.E. Ekstrom, Mark Thomas, Margaret Sherman and Helen Trimarchi. 2. Item #1, Receive comments from representatives of the Roanoke Public Library was called by the Mayor. Margaret Sherman and Helen Trimarchi appeared on behalf of the Roanoke Public Library and explained that Roanoke was seeking $100,000 matching grant to build a new library. Approximately 2.25 acres is being donated and that could be considered as part of the matching funds. The land is worth $60,000. The representatives explained that Roanoke needed another $20,000 in order to have $100,000 in matching funds. They estimate that the new building would cost approximately $60.00 per square foot to build and furnish and that the building would be about 5,000 square feet. The grant application needs to be submitted by May 15, 1992, but the pledges wouldn't need to be paid until October 1, 1992 provided Roanoke received the grant. Sherry Dudley moved that the item be tabled until the May meeting. Howard Dudley seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 3. The Mayor called Item #2, the Executive Session at 7:31 P.M. The Board of Aldermen convened in executive session pursuant to Article 6252-17, Sections 2(e), Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes to discuss the litigation between R. Carter Pate, Trustee and the Town of Westlake. The Board reconvened in open session at 8:59 P.M. 4. Howard Dudley asked that Item #1 be reconsidered and the Board voted to do so. He asked what the other Board members wanted to do with the Roanoke Public Library. Everyone indicated that they wanted to give them some money. Mayor White suggested an additional donation of $1,000. No motion was made. 1 5. Fred Held moved that the Board meeting be adjourned, it was seconded by Al Oien and passed unanimously.
