HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-06-87 TC Min35 MEETING OF BOARD OF ALDERMEN TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS A Regular Meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas was held at 7:00 p.m. on April 6, 1987 at the Dudley Ranch in the Town of Westlake, Texas. The following were present: Dale L. White, Mayor Sherry Dudley, Alderman Howard Dudley, Alderman Ralph Rampellini, Alderman Alvin F. Oien, Alderman Carroll Huntress, Alderman Elect The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary and approved as read. Item #1. Canvass the returns of the election held on April 4, 1987. The Secretary read the results of the election. For Alderman: Three places open. Alvin F. Oien 40 votes Ralph Rampellini 40 votes Carroll Huntress 34 votes Scott Bradley 20 votes Jerry Moore 10 votes Item #2. The Oath of Office was administered to the successful candidates. Item #3. Mrs. Katherine DuMontier, a representative from the Humane Society of Tarrant and Denton Counties, addressed the Board regarding the establishment of the Humane Society. Mrs. DuMontier reported progress to date, answered questions from the Board and asked for the Town's support. The Mayor said the Board will discuss the issue and decide if the Town will aid the Humane Society financially. Item #4. Consideration of a resolution regarding the proposed establishemnt of a new airport facility to be located between FM 156 and I -35W, adjacent to the City of Haslet, Texas. Ms. Laurie Zirpel, a representative of Electronic Data Systems Cor- poration, displayed a map and an aerial view of the proposed airport and answered questions from the Board. Motion was made by Alderman Alvin Oien, seconded by Alderman Howard Dudley to approve Resolution #3-87, a Resolution that the Town of Westlake, Texas supports and endorses the establishment and construction of a new airport located between FM 156 and -I -35W, adjacent to the City of Haslet, Texas. Motion carried by unanimous vote. 7 Regular Meeting April 6, 1987 Page 2 Item #5. Consideration of an Ordinance annexing certain land that is contiguous and adjacent to the Town of Westlake. Public Hearings were held on March 2, 1987 and March 3, 1987 for all interested persons to state their views and present evidence bearing upon the annexation. Motion was made by Alderman Sherry Dudley, seconded by Alderman Ralph Rampellini to pass and approve Ordinance #161, an Ordinance annexing tracts of land contiguous and adjacent to the Town of Westlake, Texas. (a copy of the Ordinance is attached to these minutes and made a part thereof) Motion carried by unanimous vote. (Sam W. Lee and Margaret Lee property) 37 Item #6. Motion was made by Alderman Carroll Huntress, seconded by Alderman Sherry Dudley to pass and approve Ordinance #162, an Ordinance prohibiting the disposal of garbage, rubbish, automobile parts, solid waste, radioactive waste, or hazardous waste within the corporate limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction of the Town of Westlake, Texas. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Item V. Consideration of an agreement between Tarrant County and the Town of Westlake for the reconstruction of Dove Road from Pearson Lane East to the city limits. Motion was made by Alderman Alvin Oien, seconded by Alderman Carroll Huntress to approve the agreement between the Town of Westlake and Tarrant County regarding the reconstruction of Dove Road, with the stipulation that there will be no cost to the Town of Westlake. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Item #8. Consideration of a resolution regarding the Town's position on proposed air quality controls for Denton County. Motion was made by Alderman Alvin Oien, seconded by Alderman Howard Dudley to pass and approve Resolution #4-87, a Resolution stating the Town's position on proposed air quality controls for Denton County. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Item #9. Appoint a Mayor Pro Tem. Alderman Howard Dudley nominated Alderman Alvin Oien. Alderman Alvin Oien was appointed Mayor Pro Tem by unanimous vote.
