TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS
A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas
was held at 7:00 p.m., November 5, 1984 at the Dudley Ranch in the Town
of Westlake, Texas. The following were present:
Dale L. White, Mayor
Jerry N. Moore, Mayor Pro Tem
Sherry A. Dudley, Alderman
Kelly P. Bradley, Alderman
Alvin F. Oien, Jr., Alderman
Absent:
Howard Dudley, Alderman
Also Present:
Scott Bradley, Chairman, Planning And Zoning
Gerry White, Secretary
Also in attendence were Trophy Club Homeowners Association members Larry
Best, Beth Hayden, Tracy Kunkle and Connie White. Several other Trophy
Club residents were also present along with Mr. Don Windle, an attorney
for the group. Mr. Bob Gunther attended, representing Independent American.
Mayor White called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary and approved
as read.
Mr. Larry Best, acting as spokesman for the Trophy Club Homeowners Association,
recalled the Town meeting of August 31, 1983, at which time the Trophy Club
Homeowners asked the Council to approve the submitted resolution granting
permission for Trophy Club to incorporate. At this same meeting the Trophy
Club group requested that action on this matter be postponed. Motion was
made, seconded and carried by a majority of the Council to table consideration
of the submitted resolution for an indefinite period. Mr. Best stated that
after this considerable length of time, the residents of Trophy Club feel
that they can best represent themselves by forming their own city and seek
approval of the resolution previously submitted asking for Westlake's per-
mission to hold an election to incorporate.
During the discussion following the request from Mr. Best and after Mayor
White learned that the group did not have the necessary legal instruments
needed before action could be taken on the resolution at this meeting, Mr.Windle
asked if a straw vote could be taken to indicate how the Board of Aldermen
would vote on the issue at their next meeting. An informal polling of the
Council showed Aldermen Jerry Moore, Kelly Bradley and Sherry Dudley favor
granting written consent for Trophy Club residents to hold an election to
incorporate. Alderman Alvin Oien disapproved. No formal action was taken
by the Council pending presentation of the required instruments at the next
regularly schedualed meeting of the Board of Aldermen, December 3, 1984.
