TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS
The Town Council of the Town of Westlake, Texas met in regular session at 7:30 p.m.,
on August 30, 1978 at the Dudley Ranch in Westlake, Texas. The following members
were present.
Dale L. White, Mayor
0. R. Carpenter, Alderman
Sherry A. Dudley, Alderwoman
Howard Dudley, Alderman
Jerry N. Moore, Alderman
Alvin F. Oien Jr., Alderman
Also in attendance:
Paul C. Isham, Town Attorney
Gerry White, Town Secretary
William Foster, Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman
Leo Fikes, Planning and Zoning Commission
Mayor White called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Secretary and approved as read.
The first item on the adjenda concerned a request by Tri County Electric to increase
their rates. After being imformed by the Town Attorney of the Public Utiliy
Commissions finding regarding Tri -County Electric's rate increase request, Alder -
woman Sherry Dudley moved to adopt Ordinance #107, an Ordinance of the Town of
Westlake, Texas fixing and determining the general service rate to be charged for
sales of electricity to residential and commercial consumers within the town limits
of Westlake, Tarrant County and Denton County, Texas, and providing for the manner
in which such rate may be changed, adjusted and amended, and declaring an emergency.
Alderman Carpenter seconded the motion. Motion was voted on and carried unanimously.
The next adjenda item concerned the Town's maintenance agreement with the State
Highway Commission. Alderman Jerry Moore moved to adopt Ordinance #108 , an
Ordinance providing for the maintenance of certain state highways and/or portions
of state highways in the Town of Westlake. Motion was seconded by Alderman
Howard Dudley, voted on and carried unanimously.
There was discussion regarding the placing of load limit signs on streets within the
Town of Westlake. Alderman Oien made a motion to table this subject for further
study. Alderman Carpenter seconded the motion . Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. William Foster recommended to the Council that Mr. Scott Bradley be appointed
to fill the vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission. This vacancy was created
when Mr. Ray Bowden moved from the Town. Alderman Jerry Moore made a motion to
appoint Mr. Scott Bradley to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Alderman Oien
Seconded the motion which carried unanimously.

There was a general discussion regarding making a contribution to the fire
departments of Southlake, Roanoke and Keller since these fire departments have
answered calls in the Town of Westlake in the past. The Mayor appointed Alderman
Offen to find out how the Southlake and Roanoke Fire Departments are funded. A
Westlake citizen, Mrs. Kelly Bradley volunteered to look into Keller Fire Department
and ambulance service.
There was also discussion regarding the water situation in our area. Mayor White
said he would make inquiries and report his findings at the next meeting.
There being no further business to come before the council, the meeting was adjourned.
