HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-04-77 TC MinMEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS A regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen of the Town Df Westlake Texas was held on April 4, 1977 at the Dudley Ranch in Westlake. The meeting was open to the public and advance notice of the time, place and purpose of said meeting was posted in three public places within the Town limits. The following were presents Dale L. White, Mayor Howard Dudley, Mayor Pro Tem 0. R. Carpenter, Alderman Alvin F. Oien Jr., Alderman Arvel Tate Sr., Alderman Gerry White, Town Secretary William Foster, Zoning Commission Chairman Absents B. H. Campbell, Alderman Paul C. Isham, Town Attorney Several citizens of the Town of Westlake were also in attendance. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7130 p.m. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary and approved as read. Mayor White ask the Secretary to read an ordinance calling for the canvassing of returns of the election held on April 2, 1977• Mayor Pro Tem Dudley moved to pass and approve Ordinance 100, an ordinance canvassing election returns of election he d—April 2, 1977. Alderman Tate seconded the motion which was voted on and carried unanimously. B. H. Campbell received 16 votes for Alderman Owen R. Carpenter received 12 votes for Alderman Arvel Tate Sr. received 16 votes for Alderman Leo Fikes received 4 write-in votes for Alderman Mr. Campbell, Mr. Carpenter, and Mr. Tate were declared the winners. Mayor White then administered the oath of office to the successful candidates. Mr. Lee Freese, representing the Trophy Club, was present to further discuss the Northeast Tarrant County Water District with the Board of Aldermen. This subject was tabled at the previous meeting. After a lengthy discussion the motion was made by Mayor ProTem Dudley, to authorize the Mayor's signing an ordinance approving introduction of a bill in the Legislature, subject to the Town Attorney's recommendation, providing there are no obligations to the Town of Westlake. The motion was seconded by Alderman Tate. Mayor Pro Tem Dudley, Alderman Oien, and Alderman Tate voted for the motion. Alderman Carpenter voted against the motion. Motion carried. A motion to reconsider the previous motion was made by Alderman Oien and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Dudley. The motion was voted on and carried unanimously. Discussion followed after which Alderman Oien moved to table the subject until the Board of Aldermen could confer(dith the Town Attorney. Motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Dudley voted on and carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the council the meeting was adjourned.
