HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-13-74 TC MinMEETING OF THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas met in regular session at the Bilbo Ranch in Westlake, on May 13, 1974 at 7:30 p.m., with the following members present: D. L. White, Mayor Pro Tem B. H. Campbell, Alderman 0. R. Carpenter, Alderman A. L. Odom, Alderman A. F. Oien Jr., Alderman .Absent: Howard Dudley, Mayor Also present: Paul C. Isham, Town Attorney William Foster, Zoning Commission Chairman The meeting was called to order by the Mayor Pro Tem. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary and approved as read. Committee report: William Foster, Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman, recommended that the Board of Aldermen reject a proposal from the Trophy Club developers for a change in the Town of Westlake's Comprehensive zoning Ordinance. Discussion on this subject was post- poned. The Oath of Office was administered to Alderman B. H. by the Vayor Pro Te -m. Alaerm^n '�'ampbell move,?. to ?rrn nt Alderman D. 1. White Mayor Pro Tem: seconded by Alderman Carpenter. Nominations ceased on a motion by Alderman Oien. Motion was duly seconded. Alderman White was unan- imously appointed Mayor Pro Tem. Mrs Florence Witt, from the Tarrant County Manpower Planning office, was present to acquaint those present with the functions of that office. Action of the next adjenda item, Outdoor Advertising Sign requirements, was tabled for further study.. A Public Hearing was held on the Trophy Clubs application to be considered as a "Planned Developement Unit". During the hearing a discussion took place about the possibility of dis-annexation of the Trophy Club Estates and consent to be included in the extra -territorial jurisdiction of the Town of Westlake. A poll of the Aldermen was taken and a majority agreed that this method would probably be the best method to solve problems presented by a development of this nature. The Town Attorney was instructed to work with the developeers in preparing legal papers regarding dis-annexation and the preparation of an Extra- Territorial sub -division ordinance securing extra- territorial agreements with the towns of Southlake and Roanoke. The action on the public hearing was tabled on a motion by Alderman Carpenter: seconded by Alderman Oien. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. John Burley, representing Johnson and Loggins Inc., requested the town's permission to grant Texas Power and Light permission to run temporary electric service to the water well at the Trophy. Club. The Town Attorney was instructed to look into the matter since the Town of Westlake has a franchise agreement with Tri -County Electric.
