TOWN OF WESTLAKE, TEXAS
The Board of Aldermen of the Town of Westlake, Texas met in regular
session at the Bilbo Ranch in Westlake, on April 8, 1974, at 7:30 p.m.,
with the following members present:
Howard Dudley, Mayor
0. R. Carpenter, Alderman
A. L. Odom, Alderman
A..'F. Oien Jr., Alderman
D. L. White, Alderman
Absents
B. H. Campbell, Alderman
Also Present:
Paul C. Isham, Town Attorney
William Foster, Zoning Commission Chairman
Ray Bowden, Zoning Commission Member
Tim Nation, Town Marshall
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dudley.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.
Correspondence from the Tarrant County Manpower Planning Department was
read the Board directed the secretary to invite a representative from
that office to attend the next meeting.
Alderman White moved to adopt Ordinance No. 76 , calling for the
canvassing of election returns of Municipal Election held April 6, 1974;
seconded by Alderman Oien. Motion carried unanimously.
The election results were read by the secretary.
After considerable discussion Alderman Oien moved to adopt amended
Ordinance No. 77, calling for installation of sewer lines, as approved,
for future use in conjunction with sub -division ordinances; seconded
by Alderman Carpenter. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Isham advised the Board of Aldermen that the Town had received
correspondence from the State regarding outdoor advertising signs.
Our ordinance at present does not comply with state and federal regu-
lations. The Town of Westlake was asked to adopt an ordinance meeting
state and federal highway regulations and requirements pertaining to
outdoor advertising; sign. There was no action taken nt this time.
However Alderman Cipr will stud,T this matter fur+%Fr and rrerer.t n
recommended set of detailed re-rla.tions a.t the next meeting.
Alderman White moved that the Town of Westlake become members of the
Texas Municipal League; Seconded by Alderman Carpenter. After some
discussion the motion carried unanimously. The Mayor instructed the
secretary to contact the T.M.L. and pay the annual membership fee.
Mr. William Hudson, representing Johnson and Loggins Inc., asked that
a date be set for a meeting with the Planning and Zoning commission,
to consider Johnson and Loggins application for a change in the
Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. April. 2.4, 1974 was the date set.
A public hearing will be held May 13, 1974, at the Bilbo Ranch to
consider amending the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. This meeting will
be held at the same time and place as the regular monthly meeting of
the Board of Aldermen.
Tn accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, the newly elected
candidates present were administered the Oaths of Office and the said
O?..ths were deposited with the town secretary.
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned by the Mayor.
