SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
October 13, 2003

Item #1: President Bradley called the meeting to order at 6:09 p.m. by announcing a quorum of all
Board members.
Item 42: Citizens' Presentation. No one wished to address the Board.
Item #3: Ms. Brizuela, the Head of School, gave an update on the school. Mr. Frey stated he would like
to commend Mr. Petty, Ms. Brizuela and Ms. Lenzie on the way things at the school have been handled
in the short time it has been open.
Item #4: Consider a resolution amending the Parent/Student Handbook regarding parental cooperation
and the uniform policy. Mr. Petty and Ms. Brizuela presented this item to the Board. There was a motion
by Mr. Redding, seconded by Mr. Sparrow, to adopt Resolution No. 03-19 approving the amendment to
the Handbook with the following correction. In the new section added called Parental Compliance add a
semicolon after each of the bullet points. After a short discussion regarding the procedure for the parents
to follow with a complaint the motion carried unanimously.
Item #5: Consent agenda. There was a motion by Mr. Sparrow, seconded by Mr. Brown, to approve the
consent agenda, which included the following:
A. Review and approve minutes of the regular meeting held on August 25, 2003.
B. Review and approve minutes of the budget workshop held on August 25, 2003.
Mr. Sparrow asked Ms. Brizuela if a determination has been made regarding cell phones? Ms. Brizuela
answered they are not allowed.
There was no further discussion and the motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Bradley stated the Tarrant County Commission on Alcoholism has a program aimed at youth. Ms.
Brizuela said she would be interested in speaking with someone regarding this program.
Ms. Brizuela invited the Board to come by the school and meet the administrative staff.

Item #6: There was a motion by Mr. Held, seconded by Mr. Frey, to adjourn. The motion carried
unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
