WESTLAKE ACADEMY
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
August 11, 2003

Item #1: President Bradley called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. by announcing a quorum of five Board
members.
Item #2: Citizens' Presentation. No one wished to address the Board.
Item #3: Review and approve minutes from the meeting held on July 28, 2003. There was a motion by Mr.
Brown, seconded by Mr. Redding, to approve the minutes as presented. There was no discussion and the
motion carried unanimously.
Item #4: t -,Ss. Brizuela made a presentation regarding the development of the House System within the
Academy. Different colors and names would be used to designate the houses creating teams. This system
would encourage a feeling of belonging and develop a tradition as through the years children would belong
to the same house as their parents. There was a lengthy question and answer session.
Item #5: Consider a resolution regarding insurance providers for the Academy. Mr. Petty presented this item
to the Board. There was a motion by Mr. Frey, seconded by Mr. Brown, to adopt Resolution No. 03-12
awarding the bid to Box Insurance in Grapevine. After a short discussion the motion carried unanimously.
President Bradley announced there would be an open house for Westlake residents at the school on August
30th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Item #6: There was a motion by Mr. Sparrow, seconded by Mr. Redding, to adjourn. There was no
discussion and the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
Approved by the School Board on August 25, 2003.
