PUBLIC ART SOCIETY OF WESTLAKE
BOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 27, 2008
PRESENT: Michelle Corson, Leah Rennhack, Carol Langdon, Kay Anderson
ABSENT: Shannon LaRue, Dave Rollins, Tim Brittan, Mary Petty
OTHERS
PRESENT: Ginger Awtry, Mayor Scott Bradley
The meeting was called to order at 10:18. Because a quorum was not present, the
minutes could not be approved during the meeting. Minutes were distributed by e-mail
from the January 31 and February 13 meetings. A motion to approve was made by Ms.
Anderson, seconded by Ms. Langdon, which were approved by majority vote.
A motion was also made by Ms. Anderson, seconded by Ms. Langdon, and approved by
majority vote, via e-mail, to appoint Mr. Rollins Treasurer.
Ms. Langdon commented on Earth Day and Arbor Day and asked if the Society should
consider participating. Earth Day was noted as April 17th and discussion ensued about a
project for children to convert trash/recyclables into art. The idea was posed that these
projects could be sponsored by us and presented at the childrens' Bandana Bonanza in
May.
It was discussed that ArtsNET's Master Works Series in Solana occurs between April
17th and May 22nd and that we will promote this through our society.
The society established a goal to create a website by May to coincide with the release of
our master plan. A volunteer will need to be identified to lead this effort.
Ms. Awtry indicated that the town is creating a newsletter and she asked us to get some
narrative to her for publication. Ms. Langdon and Ms. Rennhack agreed to form a Public
Relations Committee to get press for our organization. They agreed to provide
information to the Town for the newsletter. Ms. Corson agreed to send the logo.

Ms. Corson suggested that we send out the membership letter in March and that our fiscal
year coincide with March 1 st — National Arts Advocacy Day. Discussion ensued about
offering the Public Art Review Magazine as an option on our membership form.
Discussion ensued regarding the Goals and Vision Statement for the Master Plan. Ms.
Langdon asked that the word "obscure" in the vision statement be changed to something
else such as quiet or unknown. Ms. Rennhack described the town as a vibrant mosaic and
the society agreed to incorporate this language. Mayor Bradley suggested the town is
nurturing and Ms. Anderson pointed out that this descriptor was being used. Minor edits
were made to the draft Goals and Vision Statement and they were adopted.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30.
