WESTLAKE PUBLIC ART SOCIETY MEETING
NOVEMBER 30, 2011
Present: Brian Biddle, Debra Hale, Mike Silliman, Amelia Johnson, Leah Rennhack
Absent: Gail James, Kelly Cox, April Gallagher, Trish Biddle
Others Present: Amanda DeGann, Troy Meyer, Trish Landers
1. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by President Biddle at 7:12 pm.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 3, 2011 MEETING
Motion made by Director Rennhack to approve. Motion seconded by Director Hale. Motion
carried 5-0.
3. REVIEW AND DISCUSS PARTICIPATION IN ARBOR DAYS WITH BOOTH PROVIDED BY THE TOWN
OF WESTLAKE
Mr. Meyer confirmed that WPAS would be provided (2) 10x10 tents at Arbor Days. Also, WPAS
will be included in the marketing signage at Arbor Days. No motion was made.
4. REVIEW AND DISCUSS PARTICIPATION IN THE MASTERWORK CONCERT SERIES AT ARBOR
DAYS
Board members were provided 6 groups that were recommended to choose from. Board
suggested top 3 groups being: 1. Paying My Dues, 2. Havana NRG, 3. Brave Combo. Director
Hale made motion to pursue the group based on price and availability from the 3 listed above, in
the current order with a maximum dollar amount of $1,500. Director Silliman seconded the
motion. The motion was carried 5-0.
5. REVIEW AND DISCUSS "FAMILY PHOTO DAY" PROJECT WITH DEBRA HALE
Director Hale reported that the "Family Photo Day" meeting was being held the following
Tuesday. Director Rennhack will try to attend meeting and discuss with board members at
following meeting. No motion was made.
6. REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE WESTLAKE ACADEMY "ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE" PROGRESS
Board members reviewed and discussed email received from Kelly Cox. 3 artists have
committed to volunteer, WPAS needs 5 more artisits to volunteer and commit. Board would like
for artists to be presented to Westlake Academy staff no later than January 16th. Board
members plan to reach out to additional artists and revisit at next WPAS meeting. No motion
was made.
7. REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE TREASURER'S REPORT
Director Johnson reported no changes from the previous report of a $10,000 balance from
funds provided by the Town of Westlake for the 2012 fiscal year 10/1/11-9/30/12. No motion
was made.
8. DISCUSS AND SCHEDULE NEXT MEETING
Discussed items to place on next months Agenda: Gallery Night/Arbor Days/Masterwork
Concert Series/Artists in Residence/Family Photo Days/Plan for Marketing the Art contest @
Arbor Days. Thursday, January 12, 2012, 7:OOpm will be the next tentative meeting date for
WPAS.
9. ADJOURN
Motion made by Director Rennhack to adjourn meeting. Seconded by Director Biddle.
President B. Biddle adjourned the meeting at 8:17 pm.
