WESTLAKE PUBLIC ART SOCIETY MEETING
NOVEMBER 3, 2011
Present: Brian Biddle, Trish Biddle, Debra Hale, Mike Silliman, Amelia Johnson
Absent: Gail James, Kelly Cox, April Gallagher, Leah Rennhack
Others Present: Amanda DeGann, Troy Meyer, Trish Landers
1. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order by President Biddle at 7:02 pm.
2. REVIEW AND APPROVE THE MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 20, 2011 MEETING
Motion made by Director Silliman to approve. Motion seconded by Director Biddle. Motion
carried 5-0.
3. REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE WESTLAKE ACADEMY "ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE" PROGRESS
Teachers are waiting to hear more information regarding the Artists that will be participating
with them. Nolan Mueller has responded to WPAS flyer. WPAS will be sending out more flyers
to recruit more artists. Need a jeweler and/or a sculptor. Director Hale made a motion for
Director Biddle to email pdf with flyer to board members with details on what artists have
currently applied and what artists are still needed. Motion seconded by Director T. Biddle.
Motion carried 5-0.
4. REVIEW AND DISCUSS "FAMILY PHOTO DAY" PROJECT WITH DEBRA HALE
Board members discussed what "Family Photo Day" was about and will be sending one of the
board members to attend the informative meeting to acquire more details. Board needs to
obtain more information to see if there is a fit with the project and WPAS.
No motion was made at this time.
5. REVIEW AND DISCUSS PARTICIPATION IN THE MASTERWORK CONCERT SERIES AT ARBOR
DAYS
Mr. Meyer and Mrs. Landers were invited to this meeting to discuss Arbor Days background and
the process for the WPAS to partner and/or participate in the event. Arbor Days will be held on
April 7th 2012 from 3-7pm. Discussion regarding Masterwork Concert Series would possibly
provide music entertainment for the Arbor Days venue, WPAS needs to meet with Ginger to
discuss options. Discussion continued with regards to setting up a WPAS tent that would
showcase residents of Westlake student artwork and WPAS would sponsor a contest with
different categories and prizes. WPAS would be featured in the Arbor Days marketing flyer and
marketing promotions as a sponsor. Mr. Meyer committed to 1 tent for the WPAS at Arbor Days
in April of 2012. Motion was made by Director Hale to sponsor the Student Art contest at the
2012 Arbor Days. Motion seconded by Director T. Biddle. Motion carried 5-0.
6. REVIEW AND DISCUSS THE TREASURER'S REPORT
Director Johnson reported a $10,000 balance from funds provided by the Town of Westlake for
the 2012 fiscal year 10/1/11-9/30/12.
Motion made by Director Hale to approve the October 24, 2011 Treasurer's Report. Motion
seconded by Director Silliman. Motion carried 5-0.
7. DISCUSS AND SCHEDULE NEXT MEETING
Discussed items to place on next months Agenda: Artwork for shirts/membership drive/Arbor
Days/Masterwork Concert Series/Artists in Residence/Family Photo Days/Additional Concerts.
Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 7:00pm will be the next tentative meeting date for WPAS.
8. ADJOURN
Motion made by Director Biddle to adjourn meeting. Seconded by Director Hale.
President B. Biddle adjourned the meeting at 8:11 pm.
